Howard Fiedler joined ERS in 2015 as their Crisis & Emergency Management Specialist after seven years’ extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry as the principal emergency management advisor to Woodside Energy. Howard worked in onshore, offshore and international projects and production areas.
Howard was responsible for monitoring, planning and providing the best possible EM arrangements, assurance activities and capabilities for the protection of Woodside’s people and assets internationally, offshore and within Australia.
Howard played a key role in the preparedness for and management of incidents across the company in both crisis and emergency management. He worked across operations (Karratha Gas Plant), construction (Pluto Gas Plant), offshore (platforms & FPSO’s) and international facilities.
Previously Howard had been with FESA (now DFES) for 20 years leaving as the Assistant Chief Operating Officer (Country Western Australia). His responsibilities included the direction and management of FESA’s operational capability across all hazards outside the Perth Metropolitan area. This role encompassed the Fire & Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service, State Emergency Services, Volunteer Emergency Services and the Volunteer Marine Rescue Service. Howard, as State Duty Manager, successfully led many of the Western Australian emergency service responses to natural and man-made disasters.
Howard represented WA as the Deputy Chair of the State Chemical, Biological and Radiological committee, Deputy Chair of the state Hazmat committee, Chair of the State Urban Search and Rescue Committee. He was executive officer to the State Emergency Services advisory committee and State Bushfire Advisory Committee and sat on the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Advisory committee and Volunteer Marine Rescue Advisory committee.
